The whole reason for our trip West was to be with my brother Sam for his wedding. Sam & Shayla were married on August 26, 2016 in the Provo City Center Temple. Rebuilt from the ruins of the Provo Tabernacle, this newly dedicated temple is alive with history, beautiful attention to detail, and the special spirit of the place.

It was such a lovely day. We were so happy to be there for Sam & Shay, to get to experience this special day in their lives in this beautiful place. And to top it all off, we were surrounded by family. Five brothers, three sisters in-law, a niece and a nephew, grandparents, and unnumbered uncles, aunts, and cousins- and that doesn't even include Matt's relatives that we visited along the way! I don't know any different, but I do love being part of a big family.
As you can imagine, this part of the trip went by too fast. The next day, Sam & Shayla were off to their honeymoon and the rest of us were traveling back home to work and school. Lots of people thought it was a pretty long drive just to be there for a wedding day, but this happy occasion was well worth the effort and the perfect excuse to have an adventure along the way.
